SUNSET’S EMBRACE

Spectactular Sunrises and Sunsets can come from the most amazing places. Much like how a rainbow appears after a heavy rain. Late 2013 was no exception. And it provided fuel for my amateur photographer skills that will last for years. That was the year of the most unbelievable rain storm in Colorado. The clouds literally couldn’t seem to shed all their load. I was housebreaking Mia at the time. Trust me when I tell you this was not the best time to have a puppy. But her needing to go out at odd hours gave me the opportunity to go take photos at hours I normally wouldn’t. The photos I captured were of stunning, unbelievable color. The moisture covering literally everything. It made the already beautiful colorado sunsets turn into prisms of color.
The colors of the sun on the red earth, were reflected in the raindrops, the puddles, everywhere water pooled. And then I think those colors bounced right back up to the sky making it even more magnificent. It was not a little show these beautiful colors put on. It was the Grand Canyon of beauty. I decided one day to
take one of my photos and see how I could interpret the color and the emotion it invoked in me, into a non-objective painting. In fact, I decided to try to paint two paintings at the same time, I wanted to see how just the mood of the music playing, or the rhythm of my painting would interpret the same photograph into the two. They are twins these two paintings. But not maternal, they each definitely have their very own essence. SUNSET’S EMBRACE became almost a gentle version of the riot of color.
EVENING INFERNO

While EVENING iNFERNO took on a hotter, fiery feel. I find this fascinating.
Using the same palette, painting them at the same time. Yet as much as they are that similar, they are totally different. Not unlike human twins I guess.
And I love them both, as every mother should.
Have a wonderful week. Hugs ♥ ~ Cyd
