I’m not quite certain what happened this week…but I think perhaps I have been watching one too many competitions on the food channels.
I began a new canvas, layering, removing, dancing, layering…you know the drill. And the next thing I knew, I was removing all but the basics. Varying shades of Magenta were broken down further to oranges and reds.
As the colors simplified, so did the markings. The few remaining stand mostly as simple lines of black, with a very few purple and blues, and one lone green sliver.Those simple lines, along with stronger blocks of color, emphasizing the brilliance of the magenta to orange changes.
For some reason, all I could think of as this intuitive painting unfolded before me, were the competitions on the food channel, where they have to break everything down, deconstruct the meal as it were, to display it in a different way.
And that is how Magenta Deconstructed came to be.
But wait until you hear what happened next…
Magenta Deconstructed was the driving force behind a new door opening for me. Literally within days of it’s completion, I was juried into, and am now represented by Xanadu Gallery.
I am still a little bit shell shocked at the speed this all occurred. Xanadu Gallery has been a staple in Scottsdale, AZ for a number of years. And I am so excited to be the newest member to their online gallery!

And just in case that wasn’t enough for one week…
Aspen Sentinels sold at the Richard Schmid Fine Art Auction. I am so happy to be able to have played a small part in helping these wonderful volunteer firefighters. They give so much. I don’t know who the buyer was, but I thank you from the bottom of my heart!

It’s been a hectic and crazy week. I would love to stay and chat…
but I need to get to the studio and paint, so I can fill that Xanadu site with more new pieces.
